Who is responsible for your data
NettiRatti Oy is the developer of Polar Roads Finland and the data controller for personal data that it receives directly in connection with the app, such as support emails. Privacy contact: timo@polarroads.com, jani@polarroads.com.
Scope of this policy
This policy describes how the Polar Roads Finland Android application handles information. Third-party services and websites have their own privacy notices.
Information stored on your device
The app stores your selected language, learning progress and Bucket List Bingo board and progress in the app’s local configuration data on your device. This information is used to remember your choices and progress.
Android cloud backup is disabled for the app. This local information is not sent to NettiRatti Oy. It remains on your device until you clear the app’s storage or uninstall the app. Because NettiRatti Oy does not receive it, the company cannot view, recover or remotely delete it.
Google Play purchases
Full Access is offered through Google Play as a four-week prepaid, non-auto-renewing subscription. The app uses Google Play Billing to load product and price information, start the purchase process, and check whether an active Full Access entitlement exists.
Google, not NettiRatti Oy, collects and processes payment details such as card numbers. Those payment details are not available to the app or NettiRatti Oy. Google Play may provide the app and developer with purchase-related information, such as the product ID, purchase token, purchase state, acknowledgement status, order information and entitlement status. This information is used only as reasonably necessary to provide, verify, restore and support Full Access, prevent misuse, and comply with accounting or legal obligations.

Support and feedback emails
If you tap the feedback button, the app asks your device to open your email application. The app itself does not read or send the message. If you choose to send an email, your email address, message and any other information you include are processed by your email provider and received by NettiRatti Oy as ordinary email.
We use this information to answer your request, provide support, improve the app where appropriate, maintain necessary business records, and meet legal obligations. Depending on the request, processing is based on taking steps at your request, performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, or our legitimate interest in providing support and maintaining the app.
Advertising, analytics and location
The current version of Polar Roads Finland does not contain advertising SDKs, analytics, behavioural tracking, or in-app location tracking. It does not require a Polar Roads Finland account or sign-in.
Third-party links and services
The app may contain links or references to third-party websites, authority sources or services, including 112 Suomi. Opening or using a third-party service is subject to that provider’s own terms and privacy practices. NettiRatti Oy does not control those services.
Retention and deletion
- Local app data: retained on your device until you clear the app’s storage or uninstall the app.
- Support correspondence: retained only as long as reasonably necessary to answer and document the matter, provide support, protect legal rights, and meet accounting or other legal obligations.
- Purchase records: purchase and accounting information available to NettiRatti Oy may be retained for the period required to administer entitlements and meet applicable legal obligations. Google applies its own retention practices to information it controls.
You may request deletion of personal data held by NettiRatti Oy by emailing timo@polarroads.com or jani@polarroads.com. Legal retention requirements may limit deletion in some cases.
Your data protection rights
Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation or other applicable data protection law applies, you may have rights to request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, restriction of processing, data portability, or to object to certain processing. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In Finland, the supervisory authority is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.
These rights apply to personal data held by NettiRatti Oy. The developer cannot provide a copy of local progress data that never leaves your device.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable measures appropriate to the limited information we receive. Local app data is protected by your device and Android security settings. Email and Google Play information are also handled through the security measures of the relevant service providers.
Google, email providers or other service providers may process information in countries outside your country of residence. Their own privacy notices explain their processing locations and safeguards.
Children
The app is a general travel and road-safety learning tool and is not directed specifically at children. NettiRatti Oy does not knowingly collect children’s personal data through an app account, because the app has no account system. If you believe a child has sent personal information in a support message, contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the app, its data practices or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page with a revised effective date. If a future app version adds online accounts, analytics, advertising or other material data processing, this policy will be updated accordingly.
