Important: Polar Roads Finland is a learning and travel-planning aid. It does not replace official traffic information, professional driving instruction, emergency services, legal advice, or the driver’s own responsibility.

1. About these terms

These Terms of Use govern your use of the Polar Roads Finland Android application provided by NettiRatti Oy. By downloading, purchasing access to, or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Purpose of the app and driver responsibility

The app provides general educational and travel-planning content about driving and road conditions in Finland. Content is prepared with care, but laws, official guidance, road signs, services, prices and conditions can change.

You remain responsible for driving safely, obeying current laws, road signs and authority instructions, using a roadworthy vehicle and suitable equipment, and adapting to actual weather and road conditions. Always check important information from current Finnish authority sources. In an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency service.

3. Demo access

The app may provide limited demo content without payment. The amount and selection of demo content may change in later versions. Demo access does not include all app content or features.

4. Four-week Full Access

• Full Access is sold through Google Play as a four-week prepaid subscription.
• It is non-auto-renewing. You are not charged automatically for another period.
• Access begins after Google Play confirms the purchase and continues for the prepaid period shown in Google Play.
• The price, currency, taxes and any country-specific terms are shown in the Google Play purchase screen before you confirm payment. The app may display price information received from Google Play.
• After the prepaid period ends, Full Access ends unless you purchase or top up another available prepaid period.
• The app checks active entitlement information through the Google Play account used for the purchase. The Restore Purchase function can restore an active entitlement when Google Play returns it for that account.
• Temporary offline access may rely on a short cached verification period after a previously verified entitlement. Continued access may require an internet connection and a successful Google Play check.

5. Payment, refunds and consumer rights

Google Play processes the payment. Google’s payment terms, subscription rules and refund policies apply to the transaction. Refund eligibility depends on Google Play policy and applicable law. You may request a refund through Google Play or contact NettiRatti Oy for support.

Nothing in these terms limits any mandatory consumer rights available to you under applicable law. If a refund is granted or a purchase is revoked, Full Access may end.

6. Licence and acceptable use

NettiRatti Oy grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app for private, lawful purposes in accordance with these terms and applicable app-store rules.

You must not:

• copy, sell, sublicense, redistribute or commercially exploit the app or its content except where applicable law expressly permits it;
• circumvent access controls, billing verification or technical protections;
• reverse engineer or modify the app except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by law;
• use the app unlawfully or in a way that harms the app, its users or third parties.

7. Intellectual property

The app, its design, text, graphics, branding and other original content are owned by or licensed to NettiRatti Oy and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party names, trademarks, maps, signs or referenced materials remain the property of their respective owners.

8. Availability, updates and changes

We may update the app to improve content, security, compatibility or functionality. Device, Android-version, internet or Google Play requirements may affect availability. We do not promise that the app will always be uninterrupted, error-free or compatible with every device.

We may change or discontinue features, but changes will not remove mandatory consumer rights or unlawfully deprive you of an active paid entitlement.

9. Third-party content and services

The app may contain clearly identified sponsored content, commercial partnerships and links or references to third-party websites and services. NettiRatti Oy does not control and is not responsible for their availability, content, pricing, booking terms, products, services or privacy practices. Any purchase, booking or agreement with a third party is between you and that provider and is subject to the provider’s terms.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the app is provided on an “as available” basis without guarantees that its information is complete, current or suitable for every journey or situation. You must make safety decisions using actual conditions, official information and your own judgement.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, NettiRatti Oy is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from reliance on general app content, third-party services, connectivity failures or circumstances outside its reasonable control. This section does not exclude or limit liability that cannot legally be excluded, including mandatory consumer protections.

11. Suspension or termination

We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of material misuse, attempted circumvention of payment or security controls, legal requirements, or risks to the app or other users. This does not affect mandatory consumer rights.

12. Privacy

Our handling of personal data is described in the Polar Roads Finland Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the app, its business model or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page with a revised effective date. Material changes will apply prospectively and will not reduce rights already accrued under applicable law.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Finnish law, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections provided by the law of their country of residence. Disputes may be brought before the competent courts. Consumers may also have access to local consumer-advice and alternative dispute-resolution services.
